Consider an alternative to a hotel by staying at a Philipsburg, Pennsylvania bed and breakfast inn located in the National Register Historic District. This area consists of dozens of beautiful Victorian style homes along Centre and Presqueisle Streets. The recently restored Simler House located on the corner of Second and Laurel Streets was the home of one of the original settlers of the Moshannon Valley. The Old Union Church on Presqueisle Street was built in 1820 and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Philipsburg has four buildings on the National Register of Historic Places including the Rowland Theater. The theater boasts of housing the largest movie screen in Central Pennsylvania. The most recent addition to the National Register is the Whispering Sisters Bed & Breakfast formerly known as The Rowland Mansion. Philipsburg was the site of many "firsts" such as the invention of the Philips head screw!

While the beauty of the Pennsylvania woods is enjoyed at the Black Moshannon Park with a swimming area, Front Street in Philipsburg, is a beautiful shopping district consisting of myriad styles of brick buildings.

Philipsburg is proud of its festivals and community events throughout the year, which include: Family Fun Day at Cold Stream Dam on Father's Day; Heritage Days for a week in July with about 12,000 folks in attendance; a hometown New Year's Eve celebration; Harvest Fest in the fall; and a Holiday Parade in December.
